The TMDb API is a pretty powerful resource for any developers that want to integrate movie & cast data, along with posters or movie fanart. All of the API methods are available in XML, YAML and JSON.

Who can use this API?
Our policy for issuing API keys is simple. If you're developing a free, open source or personal (non profit) application we'll dish out a key with absolutely no problems. However, if you are a commercial entity looking at using our data please contact me personally to talk further. Obviously part of our job is to make sure we stick around right?
Wondering how to get started?
Gaining access to the API is easy. Just follow these 3 steps and you can be integrating your application with one of the most robust open source movie databases on the Internet.
- Sign up for a TMDb account (here)
- Email an API request to api@themoviedb.org with your TMDb username and your intended use
- Wait until you hear back from us!
While we can't guarantee the key will be delivered instantly we should have it sent to you within 48 hours.
